Madness Photography started as an official, serious company in 1998.
But the history of Madness Photography started long before. Onno “Berserk” Wieringa, founder and owner of Madness Photography, has been a self-taught photographer since he was a little kid and started to take pictures of something he loved since the day he was born: motorcycles!

His motorcycles
After he finished high school, he started working for various Harley-Davidson shops, where he learned to work on bikes. At the age of 17, he already owned two Triumph’s and when he was eighteen he had four Triumphs and a Suzuki GT 750. After getting his drivers license, when he was eighteen, the Triumphs all had to go and were replaced by a bike that he had wanted since the day he was born; a Harley-Davidson. This bike is still in his life; it’s an FXE-F 1200 Super Glide Fat Bob, which has been rebuild and modified endlessly and ridden for many miles. Going everywhere on the bike, there was one thing he always had in his pocket; his camera!
At the age of 23 he started drag racing, and he and his team named “Midnight Madness”, raced the bike on all the major races and drag strips all over Europe. He has competed in many classes; starting with the Street bikes, than Ultimate Street Bike, Super Stock, Pro-Stock, and then finally in the fastest gas burning class; Top Gas! Also again taking thousands of photo’s of everything interesting, at every racetrack! Being a racer for more than 18 years gave him insight in the world of fast bikes, and he’s still involved in the world of drag racing as a helper/mechanic and of course photographer / reporter.

Scooters invade the National Motorcycle Museum

A new exhibit at the National Motorcycle Museum tells the story 
of the early evolution of scooters and mini-bikes.


Scooters as we know them today were created out of necessity after World War II. Practical, but stylish and fun, they continue to play a key role in personal transportation worldwide. A new exhibit at the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa features a wide range of designs spanning about 75 years.




Even though motorcycles could have served as cheap transportation, in the 1940's a war torn Western Europe needed even cheaper more convenient transportation to get people back to work. Many train and trolley systems were destroyed, but most roads could be quickly repaired to become navigable. The scooter was a perfect fit for the circumstances. In fact governments encouraged damaged manufacturing companies to rebuild as scooter makers first, and some like Piaggio in Italy and Gogo, built by Glas in Germany, figured it out on their own. The circumstances gave designers and engineers a challenge; make a friendly two-wheeler anyone could ride and make it quick to tool up for and manufacture in a matter of months, and not be too demanding on natural resources.



True, there were pre-World War II scooters like the amazing Salsbury, also included in the Scooters! Exhibit, and Salsbury innovated much that is standard in scooter design many decades later. But in addition to compact engine/transmission drive units, early post-World War II designs from Vespa and Lambretta are even more innovative. Twist-grip shifting, storage, easy kick starting, good lighting and smooth enclosed body work for people used to the contours of Fiats, and later, Fords and Chevies, made them continually popular.

KÜRYAKYN Kinetic product line


KÜRYAKYN has introduced the Kinetic line of controls as an expansion to its ISO range of products. The new Kinetic line includes both hand and foot controls.
"At Küryakyn we ride," says SVP of Sales & Marketing, Marc Wolfram. "We understand that the needs of the modern motorcycle rider are changing, and the Kinetic line really gave us the opportunity to build on these needs. Kinetic delivers a unique collection of products that bridge the gap between performance and styling."



The Kinetic product range builds on Küryakyn's ISO line. An evolution of one of Küryakyn's earliest product lines, the ISO concept utilizes rubber with air pockets to isolate the rider from vibration. The use of modern materials is said to make this tried and tested concept even more effective.
The Kinetic line currently includes grips, pegs, floorboard inserts, brake pedal pads and shift pegs. All items in the new line will be available in a choice of chrome or gloss black finishes.
